While this covers a broad range of the Chumash's relationship to the natural world, this book gives readers a good overview of the rock paintings at Santa Barbara. Grant provided background information on the people, settlement, society, technology, language, religion and shamanism, food gathering and preparation and inter-tribal relationships so that reader has an understanding of this community.
